Finally

Ok so I'm a slacker.  Anyway, I mailed out the save the dates today!  I'm not posting a picture of the finished product until they are received by my friends and family, so that should take about a week.  However, here are a few pics of the process.  It took A LOT longer than I thought it would!  I found the inspiration for my save the date in Khris Cochran's DIY Bride Book.  We made a shaker card.  On white card stock we printed the information.  Then we cut frames out of black cardstock.  We also cut transparencies to fit the frames.  Then we sprinkled some wedding bell and heart confetti onto the white paper, and used foam tape to secure the transparency and frame onto the card.  I don't think I explained that correctly, but it's pretty simple.  The most time-consuming part was measuring and cutting each individual frame with an exacto knife.  The rest of the stuff we cut with a paper cutter.  Also, if you plan on making something similar, less is more with the confetti.  They were simple enough to only cost one stamp!  I asked for them to be hand-cancelled, not because I didn't want the envelope to get dirty, but because I was nervous a machine might ruin the card itself by popping through the transparency or something.  At home in Boston I asked about hand-canceling and they told me it was free, but out here in Denver apparently it costs 20 cents each envelope!  However, with a sweet little smile the nice postal woman agreed to do it for free!

I love the finished product!

Now onto the next project- 400 wine charms!
