Finally

Ok so I'm a slacker.  Anyway, I mailed out the save the dates today!  I'm not posting a picture of the finished product until they are received by my friends and family, so that should take about a week.  However, here are a few pics of the process.  It took A LOT longer than I thought it would!  I found the inspiration for my save the date in Khris Cochran's DIY Bride Book.  We made a shaker card.  On white card stock we printed the information.  Then we cut frames out of black cardstock.  We also cut transparencies to fit the frames.  Then we sprinkled some wedding bell and heart confetti onto the white paper, and used foam tape to secure the transparency and frame onto the card.  I don't think I explained that correctly, but it's pretty simple.  The most time-consuming part was measuring and cutting each individual frame with an exacto knife.  The rest of the stuff we cut with a paper cutter.  Also, if you plan on making something similar, less is more with the confetti.  They were simple enough to only cost one stamp!  I asked for them to be hand-cancelled, not because I didn't want the envelope to get dirty, but because I was nervous a machine might ruin the card itself by popping through the transparency or something.  At home in Boston I asked about hand-canceling and they told me it was free, but out here in Denver apparently it costs 20 cents each envelope!  However, with a sweet little smile the nice postal woman agreed to do it for free!

I love the finished product!

Now onto the next project- 400 wine charms!

Sorry

ok I know last night I promised to post pictures of the save the dates.  Well, I am not doing that tonight!  I had such an exhausting day at work I didn't do one single wedding thing today.  Except mail my finance a sample save the date, the only one I have completed.  I feel so weird calling him my fiance... he's just been my plain ol boyfriend for so long!  Fiance sounds like some old stuffy word to be tossed around at tea parties and on yachts.  Not coming from my mouth in reference to good ol him!  I love him to death, but we are not fancy pantses.  I think I will call him my boyfriend forever! haha  Ok well at least until he turns into my Hubby.  Does anyone else find it weird to make that boyfriend-fiance switch?

Welcome!

I'm getting married!  And I want to blog about it, to share it with you, because I am having the time of my life.

I am on the tiniest of budgets, but I am determined to have a super-classy wedding with all my closest friends and family.  Oh and his too.

My inspiration comes from Martha Stewart and the tons of other craft and wedding blogs out there.

So, a little bit about me:
I live in the Boston area with my hubby-to-be.  I'm about to enter my final year of law school!  I have no idea what I want to do with a law degree, but hopefully I will figure that out by this time next year...  I'm spending this summer out across the country where I scored a sweet summer internship.  I'm living with my mom, who is at least as crafty as I am!  She's sitting next to me knitting some aloe socks as I type!  My hubby-to-be is an accountant in downtown Boston, but he thinks he's some kind of earthy hippy.  He's not.

We (my mom and I) have big plans for this wedding.  We will be hand-making the Save the Dates, the invitations, thank you cards, programs, favors, decorations, EVERYTHING!  I'm not making my dress though.

So, I hope I've sparked your interest.  Keep checking back.  We've already begun the Save the Date cards and I will be posting some pictures tomorrow!  I promise to post pictures and instructions for everything we do!
